What’s in a name? A lot, apparently. Whether by choice or design, Sophie Klein embodies the Greek and Yiddish origins of her name (Klein= “little” [Yiddish], Sophie = “wise” [Greek]). This Melbourne-based songstress is small in stature, but can tell a towering story with the wisdom of an old soul. Her voice is feminine and perfectly matched to her songs. She carves out beautiful narratives of love, loss and family in the vein of Jackson Browne and Lucinda Williams. She has performed around Australia in pubs, halls, living rooms, churches and laundromats. Her debut album ‘Silver Birch’ is out November 2016.
