After a near sold-out album launch show at Chapel Off Chapel in Prahran and a string of successful intimate house concert shows and showcase appearances (including Sofar Sounds & instore at Basement Discs), blues/folk singer songwriter Simon Imrei will launch his brand-new animated music video for Unseen at The Local Taphouse on Wednesday 29 August, as part of Live N Local Festival’s ‘Carlisle Street Sounds’ event.
Directed by gifted illustrator and animator Ry Wilkin, the music video accompanies one of the most personal and introspective tracks off Simon’s latest album The Sum of Scenes, telling the story of an elderly couple living in their lifelong family home until the husband passes away suddenly, leaving the lady there alone to live amongst the memories they both shared. It’s a touching and relateable account of events inspired directly by Simon’s memory of his own grandparents and the time in between both of their passing.
Recorded at The Aviary Recording Studio in Abbotsford, the song also features the lush pedal steel playing of Ben Franz (The Waifs) and the subtle backing vocals of Gretta Ray, amongst other world class musicians.
Catch Simon in his stripped-back storyteller format performing songs from the new album, as well as his previous two acoustic EP’s and debut album, Branching Inward.
Carlisle Street Sounds will be a special evening featuring three captivating live performances in the heart of Balaclava, across three unique local venues.
