SHOL's original compositions cover the sounds of hard bop and contemporary jazz to world music and funky soul grooves. This unique sounding ensemble explores a range of emotions and sounds that each musician expresses from their experiences living in a culturally diverse city such as Melbourne. The music is distilled through their hearts and minds, creating diverse melodic themes and compositions demanding freedom in improvisation.
Set up
5-piece band – drums, double bass, guitar, saxophone and trumpet.
Can perform as a 3-piece or a duo playing jazz standards, Brazilian standards and a funky jazz repertoire.
