The Futuras Hammond Band

The Futuras Hammond Band started life as simply ‘The Futuras’, a surf guitar act. It was only when they dragged Justin Whelahan and his Hammond Organ and Leslie speaker into a greasy rehearsal room one fateful evening long ago, that the band took a turn to the blues.

An organ-based instrumental blues band is a rare and special creature, yet nonetheless these guys are keepers of a flame that won't be extinguished, part of a hip r'n'b tradition that includes Booker T & the MGs, Billy Larkins, Hendrix, Freddy King and The Small Faces, plus more obscure artists like The Bad Boys and Toussant McCall.
